Passports Carried by Taiwanese People: ILLEGAL since 1979?
The recent White House press briefing on Taiwan passport matters left many issues unresolved. Thankfully, more and more news reporters are becoming aware of the seriousness of this issue, and then pressing US Executive Branch officials for further explanations.
If the legal status of Taiwan is "unresolved," as US officials continually state, where is the legal basis for native Taiwanese people to be holding Republic of China passports that identify them as having "ROC nationality" ? Isn't such an arrangement a direct violation of the One China Policy?
Should US officials look more carefully at the post-war San Francisco Peace Treaty for legal guidance on this issue?
Increasing numbers of reporters are beginning to investigate all aspects of this Taiwan passport problem. It is expected that more and more reportage will appear in the United States and international news media in the election year of 2016.

邀蕭萬長演講 林全：對 EFCA質疑多人見解不同

蕭前副總統萬長應小英教育基金會邀請，今（9/19）日在小英教育基金會演講。會後由基金會執行長林全轉述，林全說，這場邀約是經過慎重安排，過程也非常順利，演講前蔡英文董事長也先做簡單介紹。林全表示，蕭萬長說，拼經濟要超越政治跟藍綠，經濟問題的處理若政治化，會影響經濟競爭力，當前台灣經濟面臨嚴峻的挑戰，經濟應該超越政治，蕭前副總統也希望從這個方向來作一些事。
蕭萬長以「台灣經濟問題與對策」為題，應小英教育基金會邀請演講，歷時約一小時半。林全指出，蕭萬長分享自己從政達四十年的經驗，體認到經濟議題要有藍綠共識，蕭在 1996、1997年任立委期間，成立跨黨派的「財經立法促進社」，由各黨派立委通力合作，推動財經相關法案，蕭也期許未來的台灣，能開啟拋棄藍綠、朝野合作的契機。
林全指出，蕭萬長在會中提出台灣當前經濟危機，包括出口衰退、內需低迷、經濟成長率大幅下降等，蕭萬長也擔心台灣在長年的藍綠對立及政黨惡鬥之下，面對經濟情勢的憂患意識會降低。蕭萬長在會中也為未來的台灣尋找定位，希望在國際上，將台灣打造為「亞太加值服務中心」，在總體經濟發展上，將台灣打造為生產、生活與生態的「三生加值島」，在企業及個人發展上，結合醫療、教育等產業，將台灣打造成「幸福加值島」。
林全說，基金會邀請蕭萬長前來演講，是延續基金會「台灣經濟發展新模式」工作坊，蕭副總統是個有經驗的財經專家，有許多見解值得我們參考，這次演講也提供給大家不同角度的思考，基金會也規劃了未來一系列的演講活動，會持續邀約跨越藍綠的專業人士，針對公共政策相關議題交換意見，也規劃在台北之外的地方舉行論壇。
